FAQ

Trial Sessions and Tuition Payments

When you enquire about tuition, Maths Blast will arrange a free initial consultation to discuss your or your child’s goals and needs. After this, we offer a trial session to help you decide if our tuition is the right fit.

If you choose to continue after the trial, you will receive an invoice at the start of each month covering all scheduled lessons for that month.

  • Lesson rate: £38 per session

  • Payment details: Included in the invoice

What You Need for Lessons

For online lessons, you/your child will need an internet-connected device—ideally a computer or laptop. Tablets work, but phones may be too small. If a phone is your only option, please inform the tutor in advance.

Basic equipment required:

  • Squared paper

  • A book or folder for tuition work

  • Pencil, rubber, and sharpener (for primary students) or pen (for secondary/adult learners)

  • Scientific calculator (for secondary/adult learners)

  • Ruler

Additional tools (may be needed occasionally):

  • Protractor

  • Compass

If any extra materials are required for a specific lesson, we will notify you in advance.

Minimum Commitment

After the trial session, the minimum commitment is one lesson per week. This ensures steady progress, as infrequent lessons do not provide the full benefits of one-on-one tuition.

Some students opt for multiple lessons per week for additional support.

  • Lesson duration: 1 hour

Missed Lessons

Maths Blast rarely cancels lessons. However, in exceptional circumstances where we must cancel a scheduled, paid-for session, you may choose from:

  1. Rescheduling the lesson for another day (including out-of-office hours if needed).

  2. Receiving a refund for the missed lesson.

  3. Applying the lesson’s cost as a discount on the next invoice.

If you need to miss a lesson:

  • Planned absences (e.g., holidays): Let us know before the invoice is issued so we can either reschedule or remove the lesson from the invoice.

  • Unexpected absences (e.g., illness): Inform us as soon as possible. We will try to arrange a catch-up session, but this may not always be possible, especially during busy exam periods. In exceptional cases, we may adjust the next invoice at our discretion.

  • Forgetting a lesson: If this happens occasionally, we may offer a catch-up session if our schedule allows. However, repeated missed lessons will not be rescheduled or refunded.

Cancelling Tuition

If you decide to stop tuition, simply inform us. Since tuition is paid for monthly, you can complete the current month’s lessons if desired, but no further charges will apply.
